1 - Am I eligible to use this service?
If you are a contractor (consultant, freelancer) working in the UK and a UK tax resident, you can take advantage of a remuneration structure marketed by Cascade Management Solutions.
2 - Is Cascade Management Solutions Limited an MSC (managed service company, whose clients would be subject to full tax)?
No, it is not an MSC. An MSC compliance document signed by a director is available for your agency when you begin a contract through our structure.
3 - Who uses this service?
Approximately 1,000 UK and expatriate contractors, all working in the UK, in a wide range of industries: Financial services, IT, accounting, architecture, engineering, pharmaceutical, and many others.
4 - IR35: Am I at risk under IR35?
NO. You will only ever be an employee under the structure. All your remuneration is treated as employment income under chapter 2 part 2, and chapter 7 part 3 of ITEPA 2003, and has the appropriate UK PAYE, income tax and national insurance charged. You could be caught under IR35 when payments to you are not employment income (e.g.: dividends from a limited company).
5 - How do I join?
You should first contact one of our consultants - click here. From there an appointment can be arranged so you can have a face to face meeting to discuss your personal situation and needs. Once we have taken copies of your passport and proof of address we can have you fully set up within 24-48hrs.
6 - What happens with my agency or client contract?
Your contract with your agency will be through Cascade Management Solutions Limited. Your agency will send us the contract to sign and we will first get your approval of the contract before signing it and sending it back.
7 - How do I send in my timesheets?
You can e-mail your timesheets to timesheets@cascade-london.co.uk , fax or post your timesheets to Cascade. Your start-up pack, which you receive on joining the structure, will contain more details.
8 - Who will invoice my agency or client?
Cascade Management Solutions Limited. Cascade will have a contract with your agency and is responsible for all of the billing aspects of the contract.
9 - Are there any joining fees or exit penalties?
There is absolutely no cost to join the remuneration structure or any exit penalty if you decide to leave. Fees are charged ‘as you go’ while you are working through the structure. Fees are charged per timesheet submission.
10 - What insurances do you provide?
The remuneration structure provides the essential insurances for agencies when contractors are not employed by them: Comprehensive Employers Liability of £10,000,000 and Professional Indemnity Insurance of £2,000,000 per one claim with a total of £5,000,000 as well as Public Liability Insurance of £5,000,000 are provided.
11 - Am I a director or a shareholder?
Neither. You are an employee under the structure. All income received is employment income and you will not receive payments in the form of dividends, limited company loans, or share options.
12 - Can you deal with my pension contributions?
YES, the structure operates a Group Personal Pension scheme on a salary sacrifice basis, which enables you to benefit from savings in tax and National Insurance. You are able to transfer existing pension funds to this scheme. You will also be able to transfer your accumulated fund at a later date.
